The ISSE is well aware of client dissatisfaction with failed diagnoses, companies, guarantees, poor standards and materials. Often standards that do exist are poorly thought out and sometimes based on technology and materials which have become obsolete and failed to progress as improvements become possible.

The ISSE Contractors Scheme is designed to remedy these failings and provide a solid and reliable framework in which clients can expect exemplary service products, diagnoses and remedial works. The framework is currently (July 2011) being piloted and is designed to allow contractors to become more knowledgeable, adopt best practice to observe and identify defects and write authoritive and consistent reports upon which clients can act reliably. Any works arising as a result of this will be covered by that contractors' guarantee and which can be indemnified by the ISSE in the event of failure of that service provider.

The ISSE require value for money prices but which also allow charges commensurate with ongoing training, overheads, levels of service and profits required to continue in business.

Contractor members are appointed at the discretion of the ISSE Board. Criteria taken into account when appointing contractors are –

1. all surveyors must be paid up ISSE members and must be qualified or are being trained and qualified within the agreed period of time required by the Board and undertake the required CPD hours.

2.Surveyors should attend annual refresher workshops,

3.Must carry recommended levels of insurance,

4.Offer the ISSE guarantee,

5.Be ISO registered,

6.Agree to use the recommended retail prices agreed from time to time.

7.Must respond to clients requirements within agreed time scales.

8. Inform the ISSE of enquiries, sales, and complaints.
